My dad passed away 1 month before Superstorm Sandy hit. He had recently purchased a new electric recliner. We were having his house torn down so contents was included with demolition even though it was in perfect condition. I advertised it as “free,” but must go ASAP. This nice family from a couple towns away came to get it for her father. He was in desperate need of it and didn’t have the money to buy one. He was giving the one he was using to his neighbor who also needed one. It was such a good feeling knowing it went to someone who truly needed it and that he was paying it forward.

Dee, that is truly a beautiful story. Not just one person paid it forward, but two. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.

I had a woman yesterday at a yard sale offer me $2 for five new men’s shirts with the price tags still on them. When I refused to take that she put them down and walked away rather than give me the $5 I asked for–$1 a shirt.

I find the people on the Collingswood Resource Page on Facebook are so generous in what they give away. But the buyers on the Yard Sale pages want it all for free. I often wonder if they want to resell it themselves. I’d rather donate my stuff to charity. Easier that way.

This was the best blog about yard sales that I have ever read. Your yard sales are sure more interesting than mine. I hope you sell everything and only meet nice people.

I don’t know what is worse; yardsales or posting items to fb? I am trying to declutter my home and wanted to release treasures that were never used or slightly used. For all the trouble of gathering items; getting up at the crack of dawn, sitting with them on my lawn for hours … I made $24. I spent it on pizza that day. FB is swamped right now with “luxury” purses. People have outrageous prices on them when you can go to Macy’s with a coupon and get them much cheaper. I love your spirit Tobi! You just have to have a lot of patience with people when selling your items online and beware of scams. Good luck with downsizing!
