In 2006, I founded Girlfriendz Magazine, which I ran for seven years. Girlfriendz was created to fill the void that existed in publications and events of interest to Baby Boomer Women at the time. I was honored with a number of awards for Girlfriendz, and my magazine was deemed the first regional magazine devoted to Baby Boomer Women by the National Association of Baby Boomer Women based in Illinois.
Over the seven years I published Girlfriendz, I had the honor of interviewing Barbara Eden of “I Dream of Jeannie,” Marlo Thomas of “That Girl,” Tina Louise of “Gilligan’s Island,” Mayim Bialik of “The Big Bang Theory,” singer Dionne Warwick, comedians Wanda Sykes and Margaret Cho, TV actress, talk show and game show host Sherri Shepherd, author Lisa Scottoline, among others.

Q: Why did you name your company Franks & Beans?
A: My parents’ names were Frank & Bea and I wanted to pay tribute to them.
Q: But aren’t you a vegetarian?
A: Sure am! We’re talking tofu franks!
Q: Are you the same Tobi who was with Girlfriendz?
A: Yes! I am the proud founder and former editor-in-chief of Girlfriendz Magazine.
Q: Are you the same Tobi I used to hear on the radio?
A: Yes again! I was in radio news for 20 years, mostly at WWDB-FM. I did news on Sid Mark’s “Friday with Frank” show, as well as for talk show hosts Irv Homer, Susan Bray, Dom Giordano, Dominic Quinn and so many others.
Q: Of all the services you provide, what’s your favorite?
A: I love them all. I enjoy finding out all that I can about a client’s business, then doing competitive research so that I can put together a professional marketing piece or entire branding package. I also derive true satisfaction from planning events, because after all the hard work, I get to take a step back and watch the attendees have fun and form lasting friendships.
